The Land of Kangaroos and Koalas.

Holla.

So if you guys didn't know, I went on a school trip to Melbourne and Brisbane in Australia for the past week and it's easily marked one of the best experiences so far. Being a person that doesn't get much opportunity to travel the world like how I lust for it, I cherished the past week so much.

I compiled a vlog including a few clips I took while on the trip. I think I did a crappy job but here you go.

It was like a 6 day trip but the first and last day was mainly the flight to Melbourne and back home respectively. If I were to type out everything, this post will last forever so I'm just gonna shorten it and put it into point form for the sake of your eyeballs ;-)
DAY 1

  • Departed on Sunday and arrived in Melbourne around 6+ Aussie time and went straight for sightseeing
  • Visited one of the oldest churches in Victoria (I forgot the name of the church, sorry) > Fitzroy Gardens > Melbourne City for lunch
  • After lunch, we had to observe an exhibition at ACMI and the girls and I hung around Federation Square for a bit to steal some wifi bc I had issues activating my prepaid card
  • Did a little shopping afterwards till it was time for dinner @ Chilli Padi > Checked into Travelodge Hotel > Washed up > Headed out to Coles for some grocery shopping
DAY 2
  • I didn't take any photos on my second day in Melbourne :-(
  • We went to one of the campuses of Monash University
  • Got a free sling bag (I really wanted the shirt tho, sigh)
  • Visited another museum before lunch
  • I forgot what we did after that, shucks.
  • Dinner at Bali Bagus
DAY 3

  • Last day in the shivering cold Melbourne (sobs)
  • Docklands Studios in the morning, pretty cool facilities they had
  • Random University of Melbourne tour after that
  • McCann/Torus Games after a take out lunch that was rushed :-(
  • Dinner afterwards @ Alice Thai Restaurant
  • Went to Rod Laver Arena to linger since the One Direction concert was ongoing with hopes on meeting Kimmi Smiles (!!!)
  • After the concert, we got pretty sad when we saw no sign of a cutie in a dress
  • She replied Yanie's tweet saying that she left already and she'll meet us another time
  • She ended up making plans to meet us at Federation Square and Damien was with her
  • Snapped pictures and ended up walking back to the hotel with her bc she lived just next to the hotel we were in :')
  • #happiestnightever + she followed me on Twitter + Damien followed me on Instagram
  • Stayed up till it was time to leave for our 0750 flight to Brisbane
DAY 4
  • Flight was delayed (ugh)
  • Lunch at University of Queensland (had to make my own wrap which tasted bleahhh)
  • Tour and some sharing sessions
  • All the Malay girls got left behind and it was a super long walk back to the coach but we made it nevertheless
  • Dinner at Little Malaysia restaurant
  • Checked in at Novotel Brisbane (a.k.a AWESOME HOTEL ROOM)
  • Roamed around the city again but most shops were closed so BOO.
DAY 5
  • Last full day in Brisbane (sobs)
  • QUT first thing first
  • Lectures and lectures
  • THE CREATOR OF FRUIT NINJA CAME TO TALK TO US OMG HONOURED
  • Lunch at the rooftop of QUT (PIZZA PARTY BIJES)
  • Tour around QUT
  • Dinner @ Little Malaysia again
  • Last minute shopping in the city
  • Headed back to the hotel and hung out with the Malay contigent till it was time for our flight back home

Didn't include Day 6 because it was just getting to Gold Coast airport at like 6am Aussie time and waiting for the 9am flight back home. Exhausting 8-hour flight that I am thankful I slept for the most of it.

So there you have it, my week in Australia. I made new friends, learnt new things and experienced a whole different culture. I'd love to come back if given the opportunity again. 'Twas awesome. Really.

- S xx
